Art Watch Match

Sometimes I like to play a useless mental game where I pair art characters with watches.

For example, Edward Munch’s screamer with the Cartier Crash. The face lines and the case indentures have very similar curves and there is a sense of tragedy present in both.

So, for some Friday s*** and giggles, I’m curious what this community would bestow upon Michelangelo’s David and the reason behind your choices.

That wrist is just too naked to bear, haha! The question is: does he look best in classical elegance? A beater? A sports watch? A vintage piece? What say you?

Something simple and classic. Like a Junghans Max Bill?

I'm going to match my Seiko SKX007 with something big and bold and monochromatic like Picasso's Guernica.

Oohhh! I love the Max Bill choice on David as well as your Seiko/Guernica pairing. 👌

As it is David (vs Goliath) - some plucky independent brand taking on the big boys...classical yet sporty piece...let's go with the  F.P. Journe Linesport:

(i'll leave the photoshopping to someone else, but I'm sure it'd look great on him :)

A solid choice for David, stunning FP! I love the symbolism behind your reasoning and wish I could help with photoshopping but I’m terrible with it. Granted he is in perfect WRUW pose!

Surely it has clearly got to be a Studio Underdog??

01 or 02 series? And why an underdog? Either would look great, just curious as to what drives that choice for you. Thanks for playing!

Series 02 (field). Just because David is one of the greatest underdog's of all time

I thought you were going to pick watermelon 🍉, yet love your choice! Can’t go wrong with either.

David’s wrist can certainly manage the MB&F size, haha! Looks like you just catapulted him into the future with this choice.

This is a lovely choice! It’s a stunning dial with commaning presence. I’m unfamiliar with the watch and can’t figure out the brand based on the photo. Care to enlighten me?

The Arcanaut Arc II Fordite

uses chunks of dried paint from the Ford Factory to make dials. No two are alike. Fordite is the name given to the paintbased material

Very cool and colorful pick @TimeJunkie! It’s a nice juxtaposition with our Renaissance David, I also enjoy the randomness of the pattern against the precision of the sculpture itself. Thanks for playing!
