Yellowmatic review

So, I was requested to review my new Alexander Shorokhoff Yellowmatic chronograph. This is my first try at doing a review, so hopefully i put in what your looking for.

Let’s start off with the specs first. Made in Germany this is a big watch at 43.5mm in diameter and 14.4mm thick. For me I t’s a good fit for my 7.25 inch wrist. With the thickness though I do wonder how soon I’ll bang it into something. Lug to lug is 50mm with the lugs curing down. The pins holding the strap on actually cure outward. This seems to help with the fit. The case is polished stainless steel with a sapphire crystal. The dial is a bright yellow guilloche pattern that looks like carbon fiber. And yes I had to look up guilloche🤓. The chronograph is a standard two button push. The movement is a in house 2030AS with a 38hr power reserve. It’s has a standard crown and hacking seconds.

The watch is absolutely stunning. I think this is the brightest yellow I have seen on a watch. It really makes it stand out. The sub dials are yellow surrounded by a thick black trim. Almost looks like an owl staring back at you. The carbon fiber look of the dial reflects extra light. The red chronograph hand is a good contrast. At 105g you know the watch is there, but it’s not overly heavy. The dial has Arabic numbers and instead of a 12 it shows a large 60 in black while the rest of the numbers are smaller and silver. The seconds are in a the sub-dial on the right side. Hands and dial indices are both lumed.

The strap… no it’s not for everyone. But, I think it’s what makes this watch stand out. It would not be the same with a standard black, brown or even a yellow one. The checkered blue, brown and tan patterned cloth makes this watch whole. On the opposite side it is stitched to leather and has standard clasp.

Overall this is a well rounded watch. For me it’s a perfect fit. It might be for you also. If your not into the strap they do also sell it with a black one and a yellow one. The dials do look a little different though.

Have a wonderful day fellow Crunchers…

  • Simply a beautiful watch.
  • If you want a watch that stands out this is it.
  • The drop down of the lugs and the cured pins for the strap help with a better fit.
  • The strap is not for everyone.
  • Might be big for some wrists.
