and why can't they put a descent lume on the hands??? I love my khaki but recently it was relegated to more 'dressier' attires as it doesn't play well the role of a 'field watch' :)

I'm not a diver and never was. But I do appreciate a good lume. Doesn't need to be over the top, doesn't need to light up a room. But I need it to be visible after a few hours, even if it would require bringing the watch 3 inches off my face. I am not impressed with multi-shade lumes that look awesome for 20 minutes and die shortly after. So far, Cronos L6005 takes the cake. Quite bright at the beginning (not as bright as some Seikos) and even after 4-5h I can still read the time in pitch-black room.

'can't see the misalignement'.....Eeeeeeee...What??? Seriously? Reviewers would destroy any watch for this, so no, for a watch at that price - unacceptable.  We can tolerate misalignment of Tom Cruise's face because he brings other things to the table and his face is not what bring people to the cinemas. But in this case? THAT is what we PAY FOR.

That's why my  'one watch collection watch' would have to be on a bracelet. In terms of taking care of the leather, I highly recommend gentleman shoes-related channels on YT - they really care for their high-end shoes :) I picked up a few tips from them, that can be applied to both shoes and watch straps. The first and most important is Saphir Renovateur Creme - expensive but I didn't manage to exhaust the first jar for like 5 years now :) (a little goes a long way with that one). I didn't find any reasonable method to deal with sweat, other than solutions that might be good for shoes, but don't feel right for a delicate strap (e.g. rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide). If that's a raw leather it might be ok, but if it has a delicate lining on the inside (most of the dressier watches go for that arrangement), it feels a bit 'meh'  - but I will give it a go, I have a few straps that are on their last legs, so I might just as well sacrifice those.

hmmm too much colour for me ( 😂 ) . Hamilton is known for a really subpar lume. I get the idea of 'the lume shouldn't be bright because it's a military watch', but I would expect the lume to a. be there, b. be consistent c. last more than a few minutes. Hamilton fails across the board. I absolutely love the design of the Khaki field, but the lume is a disgrace! Lume on my Cronos lasts for most of the night! At the same time, Hamilton looks like this (just look at the hour hand)...

commented on The Great Grand Seiko Crystal/Glue Issue - What do you make of it and does it change your opinion of the brand? ·

It reinforces my belief that 'luxury watches' are not worth the hype. Back in the ye-olde days, the idea was - you buy a watch worth the money. Yes, the price could have been shocking, but the idea was you buy a watch for life, then pass it to your children etc... So it was worth saving for years before buying a watch. Now, it seems, we are being fed that marketing b/s about how magical the watches are (they are not) and how it's worth buying certain brands because they last (maybe) and 'if you are not buying X, if a watch dies, you might just as well throw the watch away' (well... the X brands do the same now - repairing vintage watches becomes more and more problematic). As for 'quality' - we were fed this idea that you have to spend thousands of dollars on a watch 'otherwise, it's a lottery'... Hmmmm how about that... I would rather play a lottery with 100 pounds Pagani than Seiko :)
