Because they think everyone that likes watches has big money 💰 save the money on a couple of those magazines you could buy that seiko 🙄😂🤣
You can get a magazine about watches or a cheap Casio watch for the price.
That is nearly half the price of a subscription.
I used to meet a fellow watch enthusiast for coffees at a Starbucks located inside of a large book seller, the for sale magazine racks were conveniently parked near the small seating area offered by Starbucks. He would pick out a selection of publications including Watchtime to peruse for a few hours returning the magazines after reading. There were signs warning against the practice but the truth is nobody ever purchased those magazines.
