Watchfam knowledge required

Just picked this up on eBay. It's currently not running and clearly needs a clean and polish. I thought it might make an interesting, voyage of discovery, refurb project. I could post photos/videos here. I have no knowledge of Jungfrau; is anyone here familiar with this brand? I would be interested to know anything about it... an admittedly brief Google search hasn't really revealed much.

would love to see this watch after restoration 👍.

Hopefully it's an easy fix for you, look forward to seeing how you get on

Movement pic?

Jungfrau is a Swiss mountain, and there are watches that have made editions for this (Tissot, etc…). Then again it could be a random dead brand. It may have been made to be sold at the station there, it is a major tourist destination. It’s Swiss, it has a 17J Incabloc movement so should be ok. It looks like a standard diver/ skin diver sort of thing from the 70s.

I think that this is a jewelry store brand of the Kirchhofer store.  It should have a decent ETA inside.

in the 60's there were a large number of small Swiss watch makers in who would be considered micro brands today. My feeling is the movement inside is fairly generic with reasonably priced replacement parts still available. Given the movement condition of the movement you consider replacing it with an entirely new movement given the price, maybe even a used one.

It's a Swiss brand from the Tramelan-Dessus area.

Leppert & Cie 1897 and 1903

I found an Italian website that says that P. & L. Casorati of Milan has been using that trademark since 1953.

My bet is still jewelry store brand.

Will post when it arrives. Nothing pictured on eBay.

wow nice work guys

·

Thanks all.

I did think might be a store brand or similar. I'll see what lurks inside when it arrives and go from there.

I think it's actually a decent looking little tool watch so hopefully we can get it working and looking tidy.

·

honestly a great pick up!!!!

·

I think it has an AS inside. Let me know if you need any parts or a donor movement.

Update:

It turned out to have a Unitas 6480 movement. I've taken it apart and cleaned it but now need to put it back together and see if it will run.

·

Nice! And does it run?

In a word... no. Ha ha. I need to take a closer look. Couldn't see anything obvious but a closer inspection is required. Haven't had too much chance to look ad have been busy with other projects
