Glycine combat quartz movement

Good morning I just impulse bought this watch I couldn't pass up.. does anybody have any experience with Glycine and their quality. I definitely will be swapping the bracelet for tropical strap or a more tapered metal bracelet. I was initially was going to get this watch Erebus but the glycine was less than half.

Great watches, great quality. Don't pass judgement on the bracelet before actually trying it-they're well made.

Ignore any talk of their "ownership" for the past 7+ years. I have owned watches pre and post the change and the quality is the same. The CS hjas gone a bit down hill but I have never had an issue.

Couldn’t agree more. Pre-Invicta, they sold in stores for over $1,000. Now only sold on the gray market and thus the price reduction. Swiss brand with legit heritage. A tremendous value. Combat Subs are 10.6mm thick with a Swiss movement. Show me a micro brand that can do that!

·

Yes the value is definitely there looking forward to getting one.

·

I saw Ashford had those for $150ish.

Seems like a great deal. Looks like they'll wear well, being thin for a diver & nice curve on the lugs.

Report back.👍

My combat quartz has been my everyday piece for several months. The movement has been solid. The second hand only does the "cheap" quartz bounce half the time and that half is when it does hit the markers 😅. Hard to ask for more at the price though. Saffire, steel, 20ATMs, wears thin, lugs downturn perfectly for my 7.25" wrist. The safety clasp did try to fall off the bracelet which is NOT covered under warranty... Got it fixed for $15 at a local jewelers though.

If your experience with your Glycine is anything like mine, you have NOTHING to worry about, except enjoying the heck out of your new purchase. I now own three Glycines, all of which I love dearly. Great watches at great prices from a great brand with some serious horological history behind it. My three, a Combat Sub (GL0076), Airman DC-4 (GL0217), and Combat Vintage 6 (GL0122):

Don't tell the others...::whispers:: but it's my favorite of the 3, too. I think if I'd put it on the mesh that went to the Combat Vintage 6, I'd never take it off.

Glycine is definitely a quality watch and amazing value with a great history. I have the GMT quartz and it sure exceeds expectations. You won't be disappointed. 😉👍 Here's mine.

Hi thanks for the feedback ! Yes from what I've heard it's definitely a keeper.. I just didn't feel comfortable yet going with a micro brand yet.. this will be my 1st swiss made watch so far I've only been into Seiko's and Citizen..

·

Great watches, and well worth the price. Here is mine.

I’m a Glycine fan as you know - they have a good range of watches and at the discounted prices they are good value. And I also have the Erebus. I would say that they are quite a different proposition - one being automatic and the other being battery quartz. Given your wrist size neither should be a problem.

I think the Erebus is good value for its specifications and the only two design nits I have come up with are that the knurling on the crown could be better (grippier) and the female end links don’t really flex at all (but that shouldn’t be a problem with your wrist size).

The main point I would raise to factor in to your thinking is that as your collection expands you will likely want to limit the number of battery quartz watches that you have just as they get less wear but you still have to keep replacing the batteries.

But as you already have the Glycine I wouldn’t look back over your shoulder just enjoy it and move forwards - it’s a cracking watch as you are hopefully discovering.
