Modding as a Gift 🎁

Modding is fun. I like meticulously picking out and choosing parts to make the final thing come together. My wife’s uncle has been a very positive and supportive person in our lives. When my wife said she wanted to give him a gift I thought “Why don’t I make a custom mod for him?!”

It made me excited because it’s fun to do it for myself but it’s extra special when you do it in order to gift it to someone else. He’s a major space nerd. Loves sci-fi shows and video games. When I came across this dial I knew it was the one.

What you’re seeing in the pictures though is a work in progress. The first case I bought for it was for a larger dial and I had ignorantly overlooked that. Then I ordered this case and someone on the assembly line forgot to drill and tap the crown to accept stems. So I will put it back in my project box until I get the right parts. If it was up to me I’d just have loads of spare parts in organized trays on my workbench but it’s just not how it is yet. If the seller doesn’t want to help me out i will either buy a new case from someone else or buy one of those various crown kits and hope the right one is in there.

It’s solid inside there. I wish I could

And yeah a lot of those space dials were really cool but this one just popped out to me. I’m kinda jealous of her uncle now lol!

This is my next project for myself. My first 33mm dial mod. It’s gonna be more like a homage but that dial texture is just so…🤤

Beautiful creation! I have just started doing some mods myself. Very satisfying when it all comes together.
