1st Post: My “S-Orient 5” with homemade dial
This project sat unfinished in a box for 4 yrs, finally got it out and completed the job a few months ago. Inspired by a speedy mark 40 am/pm I once owned and (stupidly) sold. Dial is my own creation, here is the part run down: Case- Orient Mako ii Bezel- Too long to remeber where I bought Insert- SKX Hands- SKX mod, with original sec hand painted yellow Dial- Mako dial + Seiko Monster chapter ring; dial sanded down and painted grey + Seiko 5 emblem + date window painted teal and then the top sanded to brass for a pop of color.
Thoughts? Which name is more fitting—“Sorient” or “Orieiko”?

beautiful made! i got a question regarding the hands. i was looking an aftermarket hands for my casio duro, however in many marketplace they always said its aftermarket skx or srpd hands. is any aftermarket hands would fit with my casio duro or is it depending on the movement? thx

Thanks! It is movement dependent, this mod is off the beaten path and required shortening the hr hand to not bump the chapter ring. You need to know how long the hands can be + the diameter of the hub. Might consider getting an assortment of quartz hands from esslinger or sonething like that if the sizes arent available online. The Duro has a miyota 2115 movement so skx and srpd hands will not work.
What movement does the Orient use? So you can swap them with nh36 hands? And the Skx bezel insert is same as the Orient too?

For a Duro search 120/70/20 hands these will fit they also fit a lot of other movements. The Orient and seiko movements use 150/90/20 commonly 👍🏻

Those numbers you listed, are they for the measurements of the holes/post on the hands?

Yep sure are, you’ll just need to measure the length which will be from Center hole to end👍🏻

The orient uses their own automatic movement, but you correct, seiko auto movement hands will work
