Personally I would keep the Speedy - it’s yours already and you have built memories with it - and get the Explorer as your retirement milestone watch. As you say you have time on your side.

I’m not sure either will mean as much to you if you trade the Speedy now to buy an Explorer and then add another Speedy later.

Go with your heart. If it’s not right you’ll unlikely ever be happy with it.

That said the 36mm is a beautiful watch and IMHO the size the Explorer 1 is best proportioned to. I’ve tried one on my 7.25” wrist and it was fantastic.

We’ve got used to larger watches of late - most of mine are 40mm + but I’m rapidly favouring the smaller cases.

The plain bezel and steel bracelet means this wears bigger than the paper specs might suggest.

Try it on, enjoy that, and make your choice. You’re lucky to have the opportunity. Have fun and tell us what you decide.
