Bought this a year ago for £18, optimistically hoped to find a case for it. It sits inside one of my pocket watch display domes. It was advertised as being a 4-53 movement.
But now I'm thinking that is a manufacturing date, April 1953.
Would be great if I ever did find a case, but, it's a pretty looking dial and movement IMO.
The amplitude is probably less, I doubt if the lift angle is 52 degrees.
Slightly eccentric, wicked sense of humour. Self confessed watch cheapskate, who tinkers with watches. Love motorbikes, to date, I've ridden about 250,000 miles, 113,000 of which are on my BMW 1150GS....

My understanding of your date stamp is 4th quarter of 1953. I have a 2nd quarter.
My timegraph is not as impressive:
Not quite a snowstorm, more like driving rain.
I have done a half hearted cleaning job on a couple of watches. Seen the the jewels and pivots have a brown residue in them. Tiny paintbrush and some Isopropanol removed it, then a bit of lube. This made a difference, not ideal but better than nothing. It's not as if any of my watches are worn everyday.
Considering your watch is over 70 years old and possibly never serviced, it's still impressive.
