I was in Carter and Marsh of Winchester yesterday, to see how my clock repair was going.
Took the opportunity to chat anything horological.
In the shop they have this small pendulum clock that also uses a mainspring. That was a surprise.
Grandfather clock that only requires the weight to be lifted once a year! Although he said that it takes two to lift this weight😱
I never realised that grandfather / pendulum clocks could have complications.
One example had month and date, also showed the difference between GMT and the solar time, don't ask!
I was in there for 45 minutes, I jokingly said that they should offer guided tours. Some of the clocks for sale were from the 1600's.
Also have a range of watches, very interesting place.
Slightly eccentric, wicked sense of humour. Self confessed watch cheapskate, who tinkers with watches. Love motorbikes, to date, I've ridden about 250,000 miles, 113,000 of which are on my BMW 1150GS....
