Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

I'm not sure. But more importantly...is anyone gonna actually read this? I'm a lurker and I don't even know if I'm gonna follow other people on this platform. I guess I'm just in a sharing mood.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

Two answers: The first watch I really remember wearing is my grandfather's Timex Mercury when I was about 8. He died 5 years before I was born and I found it in his dresser after my grandmother died. Still have it and it's still ticking! The first one I remember buying was some crap Fossil in the early 00's.

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

My grandfather's Timex Mercury from the above answer is a fun one. A fun one is about my fiance's late father's Seiko 5. The day after I proposed to her, she found it looking through some of his old belongings along with a few other watches. I gave it the Seiko shimmy and the little 7S26 started ticking for the first time in probably 15 years. Her mom told me I should keep it. I responded with "Yes, this is an acceptable dowry." Thank god I'm marrying a family with a sense of humor.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

...you tell me? I'm still learning. Don't buy fashion oriented brands? Price is not an indicator of quality.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Tudor. I can't afford it but I just love the story, robustness, and the looks. Also AliExpress brands are just fun. Steeldive, Seagull, and the likes.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

Tudor Heritage Black Bay 36/41. It's gorgeous. It's invincible. It's attainable. It's subtle. Rolex Air King 5500...I'd take a good ole oyster perpetual too and all for the same reasons listed above.
