I’m the same. I’ve tried to make myself like NATO and just can’t. Especially with heavier dive watches, the nato makes the watch feel too top heavy. Also, and it is probably just my wrist, I always seem to be inbetween two holes as far as my perfect fit goes on NATOs.
One thing that I’ve found that I really like are the Bertucci Zulu straps. I have bought 3-4 of those and really prefer them as a fabric strap option. They do not fit on all my watches through as the fabric is thick and they come in limited sizes.
I think I have 6 Islanders now plus a spinnaker collab. Been happy with all of them. Amazing quality for the price. Have had some clasp issues but they’ve always sent out a new one free of charge and that did the trick. Guess the cheaper clasps are hit or miss.
