Can anybody plese tell me about this?

I was going through my junkbox a bit ago and hit on this watch I scored off eBay at some point. A "Lucian Piccard Dufonte Electronic" (swissonic) Ironic as I didn't think I owned anything "Swiss made" I can't get the back off but I think its an ESA 9158 from what I've been able to search.

I'm not finding out a lot about this brand except it seems to have died a lingering death from the quartz crisis, I see the current page is up, but they are very coy abut where they are made. Frankly they look Chinese.

Agreed that it's likely to house an ESA electronically controlled balance wheel movement from the Dynotron range. They're nicely made and in my experience surprisingly accurate.

Don't know anything about the brand but the design is very typical for 70s watches including Swiss ones.

They have been made in China since their resurrection. They were assembleurs who assembled parts made by other companies. They had some success in the middle of the last century. There are some vintage ones out there with gold and precious stones. It looks like you got one of their attempts to adapt before they went dark.
