What’s the quickest case of buyers remorse you’ve caught?

When I first got into watches, I used my Christmas bonus and a bunch of money I had set aside for whatever on a few watches. Within a month I had an orient kamasu, bambino, Seiko SNKK31, Seiko SRPE55, and a Tissot PRX. Within a couple months I figured out which watches I bought out of impulse and now I don’t own any of those watches. On the bright side I got to learn more about what watches I like and I’m content with my decision to part with each of them.

Wow you got the whole swath of gateway watches. Impulse buying happens to all of us tl from time to time. It’s great that you recognized it and learned from the experience.

Been there plenty of times. I think most of us have

You go trough and become better. Or not

May I ask what you didn’t like about the Kamasu? I am considering adding it to my collection lol

The Kamasu is a great watch for the price. The main issues I had with it were the color I chose for the dial, the feel of the bezel, and the fact that what I really wanted was an SKX007. That’s a lesson I had to learn time and time again, to stop buying placeholder watches and be patient for the real deal.

My experiences have been different. Here's one. I wanted a SARB033 when I heard about them from that fellow that has the Urban Gentry show. I couldn't afford one. So I found another Seiko, the SGEH49P2 that had a family resemblance, although it was bigger, had a bolder design, and was quartz. It cost $95.

When it came, I really liked it. And it was just as valid a watch in its own right as the SARB, not a placeholder for anything. Now I would not trade my 4 year old SGEH49P2 for a brand new 033 in the box with papers. I would also have to think there were guys who wanted a Rolex Explorer, "settled" for a SARB 033, and were completely happy with it and lost their desire for the Rolex.

And there might also be guys on WC who saved years for their "grail", and spent big money, only to find out that the watch they saved and sacrificed for wasn't all that.
