Breitling Aerospace; I just want one.

Today was the day when I first entered a Breitling boutique. Some thoughts:

  • Beautiful Sydney store experience: All the staff were super friendly, nice and just happy to chat. No judgement that I wasn't actually buying a watch and were very knowledgeable. Just a cool customer experience.

  • Watches wear smaller than specs: I tried on quite a few watches from the current collection. If you're like me, you fear Breitling watches are way too big. While many still are, many actually wear suprisingly smaller in the metal. For example, the current Navitimer Chronograph 41mm wears closer to a 39mm, and doesn't sit too high on the wrist either. This is mainly due to the tapered lugs and lug to lug dimensions. A good reminder to always try on before making a decision.

  • Universal Geneve won't be connected: The store staff all said the internal communications at Breitling says that Universal won't be connected to Breitling at all. These will be totally stand alone brands, won't talk to each other, and behave like a Tudor/Rolex dynamic. The staff even said the movement development will be completely siloed. Apparently...

  • New Aerospace are coming: For one reason or another, I just have a soft spot for the Aerospace. The new model dimensions wear really well, although lug to lug (52mm) is on the edge for me. But still looks badass. Apparently the orange/balloon release will be joined by more subdued colour variations in the next year. I think I'm going to wait and see.....but this watch is in my sights.

I think the Aerospace is super cool and a very slept on in the collector community. I love the quartz digital combo. Reminds me of a lot of early 2000’s sports watches.

The Aerospace is a good looking watch.

Recieved a phone call yesterday that my new Aerospace was delivered at the Breitling Boutique... picking it up on sunday, can't wait! Did you press the crown before taking this picture? LCD looks bright so I am wondering if this is how it looks with the light on :-)

Yes. I did press the Crown. That's adjustment level 3. It goes from 1-5, If I recall correctly.
