My father passed away when I was 12 and I inherited his Seiko that was my first watch of substance, but prior to that as a kid of the 80’s I have always been fascinated.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
A cheap watch my parents bought me. My dad’s gold quartz Seiko was the first one of substance.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
I worked at the airport as ground crew once and while emptying the lavatory tanks there was a blockage in clearing it I discovered it was a Tag Heuer. I turned it in and after a month it was given to me. I cleaned it and wore it until I could no longer get a battery for it. Sad day because it was a nice watch.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Buy what you like, and don’t settle for something that scratches the itch temporarily.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Christopher Ward, Breitling, Tissot, Longines and Rolex
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
Rolex Submariner 16610T. Can’t go wrong with a classic.
