Converted to Quick Release

I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself. This red contraption has been sitting in my toolbag for maybe 6 months. I'd say "gathering dust" but it was still in its original packaging.

But yesterday was very slow work-wise, so I grabbed all my watches and spare straps and had a play. It took most of the day (on and off) but every strap has been converted to quick release. So apart from bracelets, and a couple of watches with odd lugs, there'll be no more struggling with spring bar tools, or worrying where a bar has sprung off too. Job done!

Oh wow, that’s really cool! I didn’t even know they made a tool kit to do this!

If there is a link you could drop for this, that would be handy!

It's available on AliX from several stores, and probably on Amazon / eBay too. Same with the springbars themselves. I'm pretty sure I ordered an extra couple of sets of 20s because I have a lot of extra straps.

There's a decent YouTube YouTube video that walks you through it (with the ridiculously priced Bergeon version), the only thing it didn't mention was how important it is to use the screw (top of this picture) to tighten up against the strap when it's on the spindle(?) otherwise the punch doesn't cut evenly and you can push the spindle out of square:

Excellent work. I have one strap that's not QR and it bugs me every time. It's not difficult to install, but it is annoying.

Yes if I only had a few straps it wouldn't have been worth it, but I'm often changing them over so this works for me.
