Thus far, with few exceptions, I've stayed with Microbrands. But I'm planning on buying something a step up (not a huge $ step up) but still very much like the feel of a microbrand. Got me thinking - what major brands have the most microbrand feel/approach? What does this even mean - what are the best characteristics of a microbrand? BTW, am thinking of the green bezel Longines Zulu...

I guess people gravitate to microbrands for value first - a spec monster so to speak. Then perhaps a unique design flair? I know there are a tons of homage pieces and a market for micros to move into that direction, but lots go for micros to get something they haven't quite seen before.
