Zenith Elite Ultra Thin Hennessy jubilee edition - most unphotogenic watch!

This post was inspired by a 2023 video of Tim Masso trying to sell one of these Zeniths. This guy is sooo hard to photograph, it's unreal. And most videos that I had seen before purchasing it were weird, colorless and really uninspiring (including those of T.M.). However, that latest video was so good that it made me take out the watch from my watchbox and strap it on this morning.

One thing that I realized as I was watching the video is that out of my 4 Zeniths, 3 are either GPHG finalists or at the very least, nominated pieces. The only black sheep is this Elite Ultra Thin but it doesn't detract from my love for it. I absolutely love the way it looks with vintage vibes and all. Hell, it even got me into drinking Hennessy (and in the absence thereof, cognac in general). The dial is said to be cognac color. Although, to me it's not exactly that... But I digress...

My relationship with this watch is unorthodox. It's a dress piece. Thin, and easily fitting under a cuff. Although it could be smaller for a proper dress watch, it is not big by any measure (40 mm by 8.6 mm thickness for an automatic). When I look at it it warms my heart... but for some reason, people don't like it. (For example, I remember this dude James was asking me questions about it on IG shortly after I bought it and posted photos online. He wanted to buy it as well. I wholeheartedly recommended it. He bought it too but within weeks let it go in favor of a GS. I was REALLY surprised and saddened that he couldn't appreciate it (because to me GS designs are soulless just like most of Japanese automotive designs).) Nobody has ever said wow that's a cool piece (I know we buy watches for ourselves but my other watches do get a reaction every now and then. This one doesn't 😕) and when I was researching it for purchase, there was barely any info about it, let alone praise. It was deeply discounted and I literally took a gamble on it, to be honest.

I guess what complicates matters is that IMHO it doesn't dress down very well. So naturally I wear it with suits... but there are quite a few other watches that compete for the wrist time in my business setting including 2 GMTs (a JLC and a UN), an aventurine dial GP 1966, and a Bvlgari Octo in 2 tone. I don't want to say that it is a plain Jane watch but it is a time-only three-hander no matter how you look at it. I guess one way to give it more wrist-time would be to start drinking more Hennessey but that's a sure path to alcoholism and ideally, I would like to avoid that LOLOL

So I don't know what to make of it. I rarely wear it for more than 1-2-3 days in a row. But when I come back to it, I always say what a gorgeous watch, note how simple it is to set it, how comfortably it wears and how legible it is (all things which cant be appreciated from this photo above).

So I don't know... I don't know how I feel about it and that saddens me (((

It’s a beautiful piece! Thoughts on putting it on a bracelet? Maybe like a generic metal mesh one? Might make it a bit more casual for daily use.

I was thinking a mesh one (cheap on Amazon) but beads of rice might look better.

Thank you. I'd prefer something classy but cheap could do the trick as a trial option
