Help! I got bit by the Vostok bug!

Now I got a Vostok fever and joined the cult. Finding one with reasonable price in my country was almost impossible. The machine is out of date. The date setting is horrendous. The bracelet is a joke. The acrylic glass gonna get scratches real soon.

But I don’t care. This is an iconic time piece, with ingenious engineering, with one of the best design ever made for a watch (for me at least). So who else already join the Vostok cult? Kind enough to share?

I'll get one when Ukraine is freed.

Luckily I bought it second hand, so no new income going there at least

No cure to the appeal of Vostok, they are just fun and have a neat history. On the date change, do you know the trick to quick change the date without moving the hands two full rotations? If not, I can share a video and/or share in a post.

The acrylic may get scratched, but easily polished out. I like the distortion it creates when viewed at an angle. Feels better than sapphire, it is not cold to the touch.

Sealing the case back with a threaded ring on top of a flat large seal is brilliant, as the case back does not rotate. As the pressure increases the sealing improves. Far better than introducing shearing forces with a screwdown case back that rotates over a small diameter O ring.

“Feels better than sapphire, it is not cold to the touch”

instantly touching the acrylic and compare it with my saphire watches. This description kinda make sense 😅

I bought all mine directly from Russia and will continue to do so because I love Russian people.

This is one of very few watches that has has a legit claim to heritage in their current offerings as the engineering is unique and consistent. The Scuba Dude is the dial to get IMHO.

Check this out, pressure reading is in bars

It stopped working at 4 times more than it's suggested 20bar (290psi)maximum depth. I've watched the video ages ago, only the highlight in the photo this time. I think near the end they increase the pressure and it implodes.
