Watch Shopping in Zurich??

Will be in Zurich in a couple months. First time in Switzerland, yay. Would love to commemorate the trip by buying a Swiss watch in Switzerland. Sadly, your fellow cruncher Brynn is pretty damn cash-poor. I feel like the only thing I’ll be able to afford is a Swatch! I suppose

there’s a Tissot shop somewhere… Any suggestions for affordable watch shopping in Zurich?

I would probably recommend Tissot, Certina, Longines, Alpina or Victorinox! Happy shopping!

There's a strip in Zürich where you'll find all the big name boutiques and a Tissot for sure. I think there were a few shops off the beaten path that had Nomos' with a strong discount. Would recommend you check those out. They're all sort of nestled together

I think I have bought a Swatch every time I've gone to Switzerland. Why not? It's a fun souvenir that won't break the bank.

Enjoy Zurich, it's a fun town.

Depending on where you are from, do not forget to pay your VAT or there will be consequences. Keep all of your receipts, of course.

There is a Bucherer right at the airport Zürich where you can find a lot of luxury brands, in the drtyfree area. This would be the cheapest place to buy a watch.

The strip is called Bahnhofstrasse and its the city’s heart. Will be difficult to miss 😜

And yes, as others have mentioned, there are plenty multibrand stores and solo boutiques on Bahnhofstrasse. I’m certain you can find anything, from affordable Swatches to considerably more expensive watches.

There is a massive flea market in the big square by the Patek Philippe on Saturdays. Quite a few stalls specialising in watches. Prices ok - bit like UK eBay price. I didn’t buy a watch in the end, but I did buy a Geneve dial printing plate.

Google the location of those jewelery stores, they have all the affordable brands like Tissot, Swatch, Certina, Alpina, Hamilton, Mido, etc.

  • Helen Kirchberger (be aware, some stores only sell cheap designer brands)

It‘s called Bahnhofstrasse.

You find everything there. From bucherer to swatch.

Buy a Mondaine, Swiss Railway Watch. You’ll see the clocks everywhere for the trains and be able to commemorate the trip with a Swiss watch that is a very well renowned design.

$250-$1,000 ish

Have fun, Swatch is a great option, maybe by that time they’ll have a Snoopy. If you are feeling a little more spendy, a Rado would be interesting.

Can you get Swiss VAT refunded?

Also, are prices better in Switzerland than anywhere else?

Maybe. I'll admit, it's something I look up every time when I travel. For fellow Crunchers travelling abroad, I just fear people forgetting to declare any purchases. It can be big trouble. Just ask Schwarzenegger. Lol
