NATO strap: to cut or not to cut?

Do you cut off the second pass/buy a single pass or do you leave the second pass on?

I'd buy a single pass before I chop up a Nato.

Single pass is hands down better in every way. More comfortable, less height, everything you want in a watch strap.

If it doesn't come single pass, I make it so.

Secondary strap is unnecessary, IMO, in these heady days straps that are the same width as the lug spacing lol 😂.

I'm conflicted because I don't need the security of the second pass, but I do like the ring to balance out the strap a bit. I definitely wouldn't be a fan of anything that just cosmetically mimics the look of a double pass without actually doing it, just the way my brain works, so I feel sort of compelled to keep using double pass natos.

I agree. The extra ring does help to balance out the look. I don’t like how the extra bulk feels or looks, so I tend to lean towards single pass.

I like the balance of extra ring on the second pass. And 2 pass strap works best with my Hamilton Khaki Mechanical because it's military-inspired, thin, and the long lug length seems well suited to the straps' path under the watch.
