What's your BEST watch purchase memory or association?

What's your BEST watch related purchase memory?

I read a very good, earlier post from @BillableHours that asked about watches that have bad memories or associations. I did have one of those with an old Tag, which I promptly sold after my head cleared.

I thought I'd go the other way, and ask about the best memory you have had around a watch purchase.

Mine was this Shinola Runwell. We purchased it the day I got my 2 year clear cancer test result. (Still clear 7 years later 👍) Somewhat of a crazy impulse, but we were at Macy's, I was in good spirits, always wanted a Chrono, and there it was. Big and loud, and screamed happiness, and seemed like the right combo that day.

Love to hear and read about yours.

Thanks in advance!

God bless on kicking cancer’s ass. I am a Shinola fan too!

A good watch memory? It’s a recent one. My wife said to me, “you should treat yourself to a watch for your birthday.” The Lorier Gemini is on the way assuming there’s enough inventory after the drop!!

Thank you👍🏼! And congrats on your soon to be Gemini! If that’s the Chrono, I love that watch👍🏼👍🏼

i love this. celebrating our happy moments with our watches is even more important. i love having a memento to remind us of those joyous times. thank you for sharing your story of beating cancer!

for me - one recent memory is being able to gift my son his first mechanical watch when he turned 18. i decided to give him one from my collection and wrote him a heartfelt letter to go along with it. tbh, i think it meant more to me than it did to him. i don’t know if he’ll cherish it as much as i do, but i can only hope it brings him joy, and reminds him of his family every time he looks at it. and as he takes it with him in all his life’s adventures.

Love this. Thanks for sharing! I don’t know how old he is know, but I gave my now 30 year old son a Filson Shonola, roughly 8 years ago. He is an active young man, and always wore it jet, skiing, skiing, etc. About a year ago I noticed while he was wearing it, it had stopped. I asked and he said “huh, I guess I need a battery”

His Fiancée later told me he banged it and must’ve cracked the seal and water was getting in, and he didn’t want to stop wearing it because I gave it to him. I wondered the same thing you did, but that answered that question. I promise you he’ll cherish that. 👍🏼👍🏼

Thanks for your well wishes. ♥️
