Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

I have loved watches since I was given my first watch at the age of Five. Along with it I was given my first pocket knife. I grew up before a time where everyone had a cellular phone, computer or internet access. My watch and Victorinox SAK were my edc items that made sure I was home at a certain time. In 2008 I bought my first +$100 watch. I wore that watch everyday until 2019. This is when something changed in my mind. Why only limit myself to one watch?

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

Casio G-shock DW-5600

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

I bought my Seiko King Turtle after my divorce. It was a watch I wanted ever since it came out. My Ex-wife would always leave use broke so any money I saved I had to use to make up for the money she spent. Other times I would have to sell something to put food on the table. I bought the King Turtle to remind me some people aren’t worth the time and money you invest into them so don’t waste time on them. Each second is precious and a second past that you cannot get back.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Buy what you like and enjoy it. Don’t worry what others think or say.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Laco, Longines, Marathon and always Seiko.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

I could say it’s 1000’s of wrist watches on the market. While some of them are on my list there is only one at the top. It’s the one watch I have always wanted since I was a boy. It’s a large pocket watch with a solid stainless steel hunters style case on a matching chain. Have a COSC mechanical movement with a day date function and a decent water resistant rating.
