commented onShould we be comparing Grand Seiko to Rolex?·
GS has fantastic beautiful luxury watches. The Achilles heel is the regular Seiko.
Say for argument sake Rolex has one 300 euro model. It takes down some of the exclusive feeling. Rolex owners would feel maybe a little betrayed. Suddenly that very expensive crown is for everyone.
I think a watch isn’t just how much quality for how much money. It’s the emotion that comes with it. A Rolex on the wrist gives an exclusive feeling. A sense of accomplishment. Also a bit bling and look at me, true. But is that so wrong?
Btw in Japan the Rolex is seen as an old men’s watch. Worked 40 years ended up with a very boring watch. Nothing bling about it.
Well honestly I do mind. Grand Seiko is for me still a seiko. let’s stick with the car analog. Volkswagen created their flagship. The VW Phaeton. It did not do well in sales. Although it has better specs than a Mercedes or BMW. People apparently do not want to feel successful and buy 65.000 euro Volkswagen. Btw where do you come from?
It is. In the end a luxury watch is more jewelry then anything else. Jewels are you showing your taste and dare I say image or style. What does a Rolex say? It differs per model. It is a good investment. It can be given generations down. It is very much money for a fucking watch. my final words: heavy weights the crown:)
I own the blue dial Superman Quart. put a Hersh brown leather strap on it. The thing I like about this watch: feels like a good sword balance. The blue is magical so many spectrum. What I don’t like: it doesn’t hit the markers perfect. No ceramic bezel, no sapphire glass. For a 500 Euro watch that really should Be in order. This Beer is very good but I have no idear how it wound in my post.
with all respect a grand seiko is just a very expensive seiko. Yes it’s got it all but it will always be connected with very reliable value for money watch. That anyone can afford.
I honestly never got why Seiko never created a “Lexus“ like Toyota did.
