I’m a big fan of Adrian over at B&J but I cringe when he craps on his 90s Rolex Explorer. I have a 114270 which has some important movement updates to the original 14270 which he owns. His earlier videos he glows about it but his recent videos he’s blantantly said it’s a crap watch and has a crap movement in it. If I remember correctly his runs at +- 0s a day which is strikingly good and a testament to Rolex’s strong movement technology which hasn’t changed a ton throughout much of the 21st century aside from obvious improvements to shock and antimagnetic protections (ie parachrom hairspring). In my opinion just because a watch is an older model or neo vintage doesn’t make it less than the new model. If anything I’ve heard Rolex’s newest iteration to its base movement has had quality issues.
Whoa…I think we can separate those people that are “douchebags“ for only wanting a Rolex because of brand name and actual lovers of the quality/Rolex’s place in watch history.
