Exactly what I love doing! I actually enjoy building my own watches and change it up every 2-3 years for a "new" watch. The model you built in the video is very nice!
I actually like the dial much better than a standard waffle dial. I think the 45 deg shift makes for a much more interesting dial. And yes, I also saw Star Trek on the logo the first time I saw it. ;)
There are so many micro brand watches nowadays that offer so much for their value and often top higher end watch brands on bang-for-buck, yet never seem to quite hit the nail on heritage and style. Nevertheless I think Smiths, Christopher Ward, Seiko and even Vostok seem to exude a bit of all in terms of design, style, value and some sort of perceived heritage.
