Welcome to the Quadruplets

A nice little splash of color arrived today.

As Oscar observantly noted, they aren’t the same, so I guess they’re fraternal quadruplets.

You down with HMT?

And why is the gray one so different?

Yeah, you know me.

These are my first HMTs. New to watches as a whole, and just happened across these. Read up on the brand and found the story interesting, which for me is half the reason I buy anything.

The gray one isn’t different. Just a different band color and a different “pose” compared to the others. Its neighbor to the left is actually a vivid “grape soda” purple, but that didn‘t photograph well.

The gray dial has slightly shorter indices, and some little round pips that I don't see on the others. Plus the lower dial text is placed a little differently and missing that logo.

Actually, the blue one has a case with a flat and creased edge to it compared to the domed shape of the others.

No hacking, I presume. I love the C-shape and I know these are a tidy size.

From what I understand, a lot of the HMTs out there are Frankenwatches...

Good eyes. And yes, no hacking. I retract my former answer and amend my remarks to note the indices and the pips. Was happy enough to finally make it over to the post office to pick these puppies up. They were $20 apiece but for some reason required signature for delivery, in contrast to my brand new computer, which the carrier apparently had permission to heave onto my open porch in the pouring rain.

That really is a good looking collection, nice colours and variety. It must be fun to pick a colour in the morning.

And here I am with my plain white HMT, I really have a boring taste.

Could very well be. They all run, the crowns match, they actually have new bands, and they were $20 a pop. I’m ok with the downside if they explode. What’s the opposite of haute horlogerie? Is it bas horlogerie?

Not at all boring. Nothing more beautiful than simplicity (must be why my wife still sticks with me).

Well yeah, it's safe to assume that any used watch hailing from India is a remanufactured salvage item of great environmental friendliness. However HMT being a domestic product, I think it's a much better bet of being akin to factory refurb using correct (but used) parts than some of the true bodge-job frankenwatches where they cram whatever fits and create fantasy one-offs.

I am pro fantasy dial HMT as much as I am anti franken Sandoz, Camy, Citizen, Titus, and whatever else they make up.

I know that this isn't a real Sherpa. But, I enjoy it.

That being said, I am keeping my eyes out for unredialed HMTs. They appear in the oddest places.

I just purchased the orange sunburst variant! Very excited to have it along side my HMT Janata

Welcome, very cool
