Middle school maybe. I was fascinated by mechanics of an automatic watch. I like quartz watches too.
I think time telling was our first true attempt to understand nature and universe.
Watches are also a harmonious mix of science and art.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
Probably a timex in middle school.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
Got my first Rolex engraved to mark a day I will never forget. It will hold a special place in my heart forever.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Follow your heart and not the hype.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
So many Indy brands are actually worth buying now for what they are instead of a place holder of what you really want. I feel like this is a moving target so I don’t want to commit to a handful names.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
Again, I feel like it’s a moving target. The more you discover the more your learn. You get some grail or grail adjacent watch and your definition of grail evolves and changes with time.
I’m just happy to be on this journey.
