Good things come in small packages.
Insert obligatory “Always wanted a tank” sentence. The Solarbeat has been on my want list since its release but it’s so hard to save up with all these rising costs. And now I’m saving up for my wedding. So I thought that dream was impossible. But now I started my dream job 2 months ago and wanted to get a watch to commemorate it. Was thinking of getting a Lorier Falcon III, however couldn’t justify the extra costs to get it shipped to Aus. Maybe after a promotion I’ll get one but wanted something within a $200 budget for the mean time.
I went down the Tank alternatives rabbit hole and spent 2 months reading and watching reviews. Kept searching for vintage Seiko models but the prices were too much. Then last weekend I went on a shopping trip with my gf and walked past a jeweler shop and noticed this lil fella (SWR054) through the window. I knew its dimensions were smaller than the tank (Case is 18.9mm) and that’s what put me off from this watch at first as I felt it was much too small than the tank. But I decided to ask the clerk if I could try it on and you already know where this is going.
Love at first…wear? Is that a thing? I just loved the dainty understated unpretentious size on my 6.5” wrist. My partner said it was tiny but liked how it fit my small wrist, I was kinda afraid she’d say no and tell me “You have the same watch!” Which obviously I don’t and it’s all the same to her lol.
I took photos of it on my wrist in store and left as my partner searched it up online and saw a competing jeweler had the same watch for $100 less. Amazing work by her cause she always loves a good deal and I owe her for helping me. So we went home and just ordered online with free shipping and now it has arrived in its new home.
Now I’m not sure if still want a tank anymore, I’m crazy right?!!
So I guess I’ll set my eyes on the Santos Dumont instead 👀😉😎

I don't sayy this often, because I agree that small watch tend to wear better than larger watch,. But this is too small on your wrist, I bet the small cartier tank size would fit you perfectly👌but hey it's just my opinion and have fun with it 👍

Agree. Could be a tad bigger but I do love that it’s a different watch, unique size and different sort of case design from the tank. And I enjoy every part of it.

Could not agree with you more. You’re right. The tank would look so so much more better on my wrist. And yes the Seiko is smaller and a tad too small for me. But that’s the whole appeal to me. The fact that it is its own watch. I watch that can strike a conversation and a watch I love. Because I wear the watch and I make the rules that make me happy and comfortable to wear one like it.
I love exploring my fashion and I tend to wear women’s clothing because men’s clothing is always the same old styles cut from the same cloth. So this watch just extends on my ethos of fashion that I break my mould and be happy with what I am and can be.
