Seiko Laurel LJAK602

I have been collecting for a few years now. In that time, I have joined many online groups and have purused at lots and lots of watch photos online. An embarrassingly amount of my time has been used looking at watches. Especially, vintage watches. So it doesn’t happen often but sometimes, just sometimes, a line of watches that I have not seen before knocks me over the head. Meet the seiko Laurel LJAK602.

Powered with a high beat manual wind 4s28. The 4s28 was developed by seiko in the 90’s. My example is from April of 1996. The movement is based on the Seiko 52 stream used in King Seikos and retired in the 70s. Historic significance of a great movement. Mine is currently running at +15 secs a day so I will clean and regulate.

The case is made from 925 silver. I’ll repeat. The case is made of 925 silver and the hands are thermally blued. Wow. The onion crown allows for great grip and easy rotation.

There are quite a few watches in this Laurel line of watches. I understand that they introduced these watches when the craze for mechanical movements restarted in the 90s.

The look and feel of this watch is stunning and I am very happy with this watch in my rotation.

Can see why you’re happy with this in your rotation! It’s gorgeous. They really did just about everything right with this watch. Caseshape, numerals, small seconds, blued hands…and a solid movement. 🔥
