WatchPro Salon

Anyone else go to WatchPro Salon yesterday in London?

What were you’re thoughts on the event? And what were the highlights for you?

Yep. Enjoyed it. Sadly missed the talks. Very well organised and had some lovely chats with some of the brands. A really nice venue with plenty of spaces for seating and chatting over drinks too.

It was a treat to see and handle AnOrdain, Speake-Marin and Laurent Ferrier. Its an excellent opportunity to see the brands which aren’t traditionally seen on the High Street. I think organising more than one Salon event a year might be overkill (it should be kept special). Maybe have another Salon event elsewhere in the UK or rotate the location around the UK

Yes I was there with my community, The Watch Collectprs' Club. Had a fantastic time on both Friday and Saturday. IT's so great to try on so many different watches and chat to people as you do it. I nearly bought one too, but managed to avoid hitting my credit card!

Totally agree with you on those brands especially Anordain, their    dials look amazing! Nice to see      Zodiac too. Only caught the final talk, Watches and Whisky. Which as the name suggests was awesome!
I also attended WorldTimeUk at Heathrow in September which was also really good but I do think  these events should be spread throughout the year rather than in quite quick succession.

I thought it was really good venue with lots of space for socialising . Got to meet lots of great brands and loads of cool people.

Likewise didnt make any purchases but this event has done unspeakable things to my wish list!

I should definitely have made an more of an effort with the talks but the attention with the brands were distracting! I also took the opportunity to meet up with a fellow WC member (first time we had ever met) and that was really cool too. These events and sites like these are bringing people together. Another thing I noticed was the lack of ‘attention seekers’ it was just an amazing and fun crowd. It was part of the reason I also went to the WorldTime UK event - it was out of the way and you had to make an effort to get there.

I don’t know if these events are purposefully staged around auction season - when there is attention drawn to watches and a lot of the releases announced at Watches & Wonders have had a chance to hit retail. Competing with the Swiss Watch shows may work against attendance (or work better for people cannot travel - I don’t really know!).

Yeah same, I there from 10:30-5:30 and barely got round all the brands as it was. But I heard the word Whisky which lured me into the finsl talk lol.
I’m sure the timing is strategically planned and I’d rather have 2 events in quick succession than only have the one. Both were excellent events, very well run and focused on different types of brands so compliment each other well.
Maybe for next year a WC pin badge could work to recognise fellow members- although I was proudly sporting my British watchmakers pin and a Poppy pin so I run the risk of looking like a fridge door!

The pin badge is an excellent idea - one for @Max to consider?? Especially since the Salon event was promoting the idea of watch clubs/communities.

Are you coming along to the meetup?

Sadly I cannot make the meet up, I work in retail so Saturdays off are tricky at best, especially at this time of year. I had to book last Saturday as an annual leave day to be sure if being able to attend.
Hopefully in the new year I’ll be able to get to some meet -ups though 👍
