Thoughts on the new coming C63 with SH21 movement

Interested in the new C63s

Well priced for an inhouse movement.

Good to see SH21 is being used in more models

But I think I would wait for more colours.

Also 41mm is a bit big for me.

The SH21 is a fairly large movement, so I expect 41mm is as small as they can go with it. If they could have fit it inside the 39mm case I'm sure they would have.

I wouldn't hold my breath for more colours anytime soon, CW tends to make small numbers of the SH21 powered LEs, in only one or two colours. The older C65 only had two SH21 powered versions, both had blue dials, one was steel and the other was bronze.

Had a similar reaction. I couldn't find the chronograph seconds hand. Then I understood why.

..So power reserve sub dial and small sub seconds dial...nope, not feeling it,

Not a fan of everything on the dial, subdial and handset. And it is too big for my little wrist.

But maaan an inhouse movement, chronometer with 5 days power reserve at this price point ?? Is there any competitors ? Oris maybe ?

An Oris with the Cal 400 is about $1-1.5K more in Canada, might be closer elsewhere.

Apparently CW is working on a version 2 of this movement. I don't see what they'd be trying to improve if not size, or some sort of compromise around size. 70/80h PW with certification which could fit 36-39mm/sub 12mm-thick cases would be a killer.

tell me you like Grand Seiko without telling me.

I like Grand Seiko; I have three. I don't like this watch. Grand Seiko is elegant, refined, and interesting, this is, well, not. And mind you, I own a Christopher Ward, so I do like Christopher Ward. Aside from the movement, this is not their best work.

Was trying to imply that imitation is a form of flattery 😅

In context, it does seem a few brands are taking inspiration from GS. More textured dials, more usage of Ti, more shiny bevel work. Or it might just be me.
