Review ofThe Hydrotimer

So where do I even begin with this watch. Firstly I would have to say that my collecting has changed a lot this year. I used to be an only chronograph guy and that was all I would wear. But as I started going further and further down the rabbit hole I stated to understand for myself that I would need a watch for every situation. So the collection started to change a bit. No longer was I interested in just Chronos it merged into other complications and just 3 handers. When it comes to choosing for a dive watch I had really no knowlege about what a dive watch was all about and that there was a lot of reasons to pick one up.

Of course you hear the typical, YOU NEED TO GET ROLEX, OMEGA, OR TUDOR in order to have a true dive watch. Or at least that is what I heard and saw on the internet. And mind you they are an expensive entry point from my veiw even though I was looking at Seiko mostly since that was within my range. Then I stumbled upon this time peice. I saw it going through instagram and I thought to myself wow that is a great looking watch and it has some of a vintage flare to it. So I dug even deeper. Found out they were a Texas brand that is an indipendent that has been around for a few years and they also made a GMT watch as well. However I already bought the Seiko 5 GMT so I had no need for another however this diver was such a great packege I had to see it for myself. I was returninng from a cruise from my honey moon and I was looking to get somthing to remember the week of bliss that I experianced. So I took the bullet and went to the showroom for @jackmason and what an experiance it was. I was greeted like I was at a family get together. I have never experianced somthing like this before purchasing or even looking at a watch.

The staff at the boutique were really nice and gave me all the info about the Hydortimer. Like the fact that it has a 4 htz movement and that it would be acurate to plus or minus 5 seconds a day was somthing that I was shocked about coming from a local watch maker. Not only that it has a ceramic beel and super lumanova I only thought you could get that on omega and rolex. Then also knowing that it has a screwdown crown and 300 meters of water resistance and like I mentioned before a vintage look there was just no way saying no on getting it. The construction of the hydrotimer is nothing but amazing espesicailly for the price and the fact that it is so rugged and resilliant. I plan on taking this with me pretty much everywhere. The only thing that bugs me just a little is that the braclet can get a little bit irritating when you start to sweat a little bit but it just is so damn comfy to wear. If you are looking to get into a dive watch and do not want to go over $1000 bucks look no further this is the watch you should look at.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts! This one is sure a tempting option, Jack Mason has really stepped up their game in the last year!

I would love to see someone do a comparison between the Hydrotimer and the Black Bay 58. Where was the showroom you went to?

They sure did! I was debating between this one and the strat-o-timer but I already had a GMT watch and did not have a dive watch so this one won ahha

It was in Dallas! They have been moving to a new location so they are not ready yet but once they are I am sure they will bring out the address

That’s a fair point. Good on you for not getting caught up in the “every watch must be a GMT!” hype.

Love this piece. It has my name written all over it. Hope to see it in September in real life.
