If i m not totally wrong the watch gets the correct Moon phase by calculating time zone and time. The tide will be callculated by actual time and moonphase. At least i think so by reading through my 7900 manual. But no guarantee, as it is perfectly possible that i misunderstood my manual (language- barrier)
I still have the manual for this watch and I have tried to mess with the watch but, it's a bit complicated so I left it like it is.

I also have a 7900. I would assume this one is similar. You have to put in your longitude, and there is also a website that gives you your lunatidal lag (or something like that) because depending on the coastline, high and low tide may lag the moon position.
