I'm curious to hear from anyone that checks outs Ebay auctions for random lots of old watches. Seems like every now and then there might be one watch in a lot amongst the beaters and fashion models that's actually good even if it needs a repair? Or am I just kidding myself ๐
I actually scored multiple times on lots like that, got some Tissots, Seikos, Citizens, baume & mercier, Certina, Bulova etc. And if a lot is a dud , just resell it, you'll usually return the money you invested so no harm done.

It's a nice idea, but at this point the risk of a box of watches I don't want doesn't interest me.
I heard of one person that got a legit Submariner out of a lot sale.
As good as Google is the chances of someone getting rid of something great have been massively reduced.
If I want to gamble, I'll go to Monaco. Hard pass.

Never anything good on eBay lots.
