This weekend I'm doing something a little different for Seiko Saturday/Sunday. I'm going to lean in to one of the most hated watch brands. Seriously, Invicta might be only surpassed by Hublot with the amount of shade thrown. IDK. Might be an interesting analytics project. I digress. Seen here is the Invicta Pro Diver 1953, with a Gilt Dial. Fun fact, when these pieces were released, they were pretty tough to get a hold of. I even remember seeing a few selling on eBay for over retail. I mean, we're talking $20 - $50 over, but it happened - with Invicta. Look, these pieces are clearly derivative - that's their point. However, they do pack a Seiko NH35A inside, and the specs aren't bad. Not to mention the killer looks (thanks to the Crown for that design). Nevertheless, I like 'em, and I'm proud to have them in my collection.

I am going to buy an Invicta (Grand Diver) very soon, and it will be my first one, but as you said, with a reliable Seiko movement and the fine finishing that Invicta is known for, I really don't see the downside.

I have a Grand Diver, and I think that they are a great watch for the money. Especially if you have the wrist for it or you just like a bigger watch. Solid end-links, milled clasp, 300m WR, and great construction (I mean, the bezels line up, [cough, cough]). I get why people hat on Invicta - they have some hideous models, but the Pro Diver and Grand Divers seem to be just fine. Plus... like you said - Seiko movement.
