Thanks for the info, and they just need to adopt the M4 it is the perfect carbine in my opinion.
Lol I'd agree, but budgets are budgets, not to mention entrenched bureaucracy and/or senior leadership that haven't been in the field for decades, if ever, will insure it hangs around..😬🤐😭.

You are not wrong. I am just glad we are replacing the Beretta with the Sig. I am not a big fan of the M9. Then again, being aircraft maintenance I have always qualified and carried the M16/M4. Plus if you are counting on maintainers to defend the base all is lost at that point.

Maybe. But you'd be surprised TBH.
Some airman did some pretty heroic acts of defense in Vietnam.
I will DEF agree on the M9, not a terrible sidearm, in and of itself, especially new.
But a 15-30 yr old hand me down isn't the same as the Wilson Combat M9 😂.

You're not wrong. The squadron I am in now was deployed to Bagram during the evacuation ( I was not there myself, and stationed in Japan at the time), but I have guys in the unit that were there pulling security and escort duties and definitely saw the worst of it as maintainers. God bless them for what they did and experienced.

What kind of strap is that?

Name of the company is Zulu Alpha. It's the original variant, bond color way.
For lack of a better term, it's an infinitely adjustable, single pass style.
The buckle is from a UK MOD (Ministry of Defence) issued sling that I believe was used on the SA80, I think.
