If I could only have one watch - which one would you chose?
The watch all the watch people nod to versus the watch even watch people don't know
Sinn 556 I (38.5mm)
That dial! I can lose myself just staring into the deep black nothing.
Sinn is a short lunch break walk for me. I found it inevitable to have one, watch nerds in Frankfurt must have a Sinn. The 556 was most appealing to me because of it's simplicity. I always think about putting it on different straps but I find it so perfectly balanced on the bracelet that I rarely change it.
Whenever I don't know which watch to wear, this is my go to. It's always appropriate.
Seiko 5 SNKK87 (38mm)
Many years ago I had bought one like this for modding it and while I lost interest in the whole mod thing, I keep remembering how well this one wears. So I bought another one, this time to keep it as is. Whenever I'm wearing it I think how little is needed to feel like you're wearing "a proper watch". It's the ultimate under the radar watch for me.
Which one would you pick?
While this is not one of the uglier Sinn models, I'm an SNK wearer. I totally admit that in most objective comparisons, it should be Sinn all the way. I know that there are some frustrations with the Seiko's movement. I just like its looks better.
That is very close. Love both watches. Sinn crashes Seiko with that dial, bracelet and movement, Seiko has the watch soul and is really affordable. I tossed a coin and it had Sinn on both sides. Sorry Seiko.
