Ocean One Vintage Review

At the beginning of the year I couldn't resist and treated myself to a beautiful Steinhart. The Steinhart Ocean One Vintage.

In my opinion an excellent homage to the ROLEX Submariner / Ref. 6538, which was made famous in 1964 by the film 007 Goldfinger on Sir Sean Connery's wrist.

In contrast to today, the first diving watches were very large and did not offer the diver any additional functions apart from displaying the time. It wasn't until the early 1950s that the first diver's watches were developed with a rotating bezel, allowing divers to safely and accurately monitor the time period of their dives. The STEINHART company pays tribute to this era, in which a now legendary sports watch design was created, with the Ocean One Vintage and bows to the technical developments of bygone times. The Ocean One Vintage delights with many highlights. A huge sapphire glass with double anti-reflective coating on the inside arches over the golden hands and the dark gray dial with luminous paint in "Old Radium" look, which is immediately reminiscent of the plastic glasses of watches of bygone days. This picture is framed by the new, unidirectional rotating diver's bezel and the new stainless steel case, which knows how to shine with partly polished, partly finely brushed surfaces. Yesterday's design paired with today's technology and materials, the STEINHART Ocean One Vintage offers its wearer a robust sports watch for everyday use with a vintage look that lets them look at the watch even when they already know what time it is is.

Yesterday's design paired with today's technology and materials... that's exactly what describes the manufacturer Steinhart Timepieces for me.

The watch has a diameter of 42mm, a height of 16mm and a strap width of 22mm. In addition to the 316L stainless steel case and the aluminum bezel, the watch has a domed and anti-reflective sapphire crystal and weighs 199g. The dial is vintage black, the applied numerals and markers are Superluminova Vintage, Old Radium. The golden hours, minutes. and the central second hand are provided with Superluminova "Old Radium". This diving watch is waterproof up to 30 ATM thanks to the screwed watch base and the screwed crown.

The Ocean One Vintage is powered by an ETA 2824-2/SW 200, élaboré automatic movement with 26 jewels and a 38-hour power reserve. It is delivered ex works with a screwed stainless steel bracelet 22 x 18 mm and a 18 mm folding clasp with a safety clasp made of stainless steel.

  • The watch is an absolute eye-catcher. It always catches the eye when you wear it.
  • Both the high-quality materials and the perfect workmanship can be seen and felt when you wear them.
  • An absolutely perfect price-performance ratio
  • Despite my wrist circumference of 19cm, the watch feels a little big. However, it's not a big problem.
