Thoughts on SKMEI

Been casio fan for years but just seen this SKMEI brand online and wondered are they just Casio copy’s or are they actually OK.

They do some that are pretty close in design to some classic Casios but wondered how the quality is as they are very cheap, they worth a go or should one stay away.

Stay away they are a copy.

Thank you. I thought maybe just copy but was not sure. Casios are not that much more then this brand. Will stick with original

I recently purchased a Skmei, not a bad watch for a Casio clone. Functions well, but check the specs. Some Casinos have 5 alarms, while the Someone may only have 1. WP is another difference.

I just had to check one out.

I have the SKMEI 1456, it's a decent enough Casio clone. I figured it's an inexpensive way to get a feel of a stainless steel Casio.

Even a cheap Casio gets respect. simple, accurate and they have pretty ones too. More accurate than a Rolex while being disposable.

I have got a SKMEI homage to the Casio W96h.

Downside: the display is not as nice as the Casio, the LED of the SKMEI 1278 becomes quickly unreadable at an angle, Casio does not have that issue, judging from youtube videos. It is a sample size of 1, but I reckon that will likely be the case across the range.

Upsides: the SKMEI comes in an attractive copper-colour, which is a colour option for the Casio in theory - in practice these are as rare as hen's teeth, with prices to match (I saw one for £77 while you can always get the basic model for £19). The Casio has all sorts of weird alarms (e.g. chiming one's a month at a particular day), but it is lacking a countdown timer which the SKMEI has.

So, beware: when the looks match, the functions may not - and that is not necessarily a good or bad thing, just check. The LCD display is almost certainly nicer with Casios. Pricewise, the savings aren't worth it, but you could find via SKMEI the looks of a discontinued model, or a complication you wish the Casio had.
