This is my JDM Seiko Majesta with the rare 5S42 viscous-sweep quartz movement. The second hand sweeps perfectly smooth. Compared to Spring Drive, it's a much better fit for my slender wrist. It's also way less expensive.
"This paper describes a new quartz watch driving system we developed. With this system, the second hand of a wrist watch moves smoothly as if it is sweeping. An intermittent movement of the stepping motor is transferred to a smooth sweeping motion due to the spiral spring and the viscous regulator. This system also allows the continued superiority of quartz watches." (emphasis added) - Shigeru AOKI, Osamu MIYAZAWA, Osamu TAKAHASHI (Seiko Epson Corp.)

Wow this is sweet. I wonder why they discontinued these, they're so rare
