Citizen Promaster NY0086-83L Pepsi

Hi there. Sitting in the waiting room after my COVID booster, so thought I'd pass the time by posting on WatchCrunch ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here's another of my favourite watches in my modest collection. It's a later version with the 8204 movement, so I scored hacking.

I got to the party a few years too late for an SKX007, but really happy I got one of these.ย

I love the dial and bezel colours, the dial is quite complex in the sunlight. I love that it's an ISO certified diver which I got for an incredible price, and love the history stretching all the way back to the NY004 and its reputation for over performing WR, and tough and reliable operation.ย

Bracelet is terrible, with awful adjustment mechanism, but on the plus side it does have a diver's extension.

Because I love this watch, I'm on the lookout for a limited edition Fugu. However, finding it difficult to justify given the modest improvements (sapphire is about it) for a rather lot more money.

Any Fugu owners out there?ย

Not a Fugu owner, but I have to say, the ones I tried on in stores have some of the best crown actions in the business! Citizen's rubber straps are on par with Seiko's as well. Only a Marathon diver surpasses the Citizen, in my humble opinion ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

I actually thought the bracelet was the best part of the SKX line.ย

Am a Citizen fan myself. The NY0040 series is what Seiko should have been with the SKX. And for less money.ย

Comments on the terrible bracelet were in relation to my Citizen, not the SKX. I'm on the lookout for a solid link replacement, but I have a stack of Natos I rotate.

Replying to myself...

BTW, I managed to find a solid link, solid end link, milled clasp, screw adjustment, Oyster style (phew!) bracelet on AliExpress for about AUD$20 delivered, so very keen to see how that works out. Someone in the review says it fits their Citizen (NY0040), so looking good so far.

Anyone who has been on the search for a similar bracelet knows how hard it can be.
