Taking a break

I love watches and collecting. But after feeling it out and seeing the obvious (I have some debt). I will take a 1 year break from purchasing any. Its almost impossible to do, especially with the impulsive consumerist mindset culture influenced by social media. But it will give me time to Enjoy my current lineup.

Good for you. As hard as it is and believe me it's bloody hard. Just enjoy what you have and if you feel yourself weaken. Come here I will tell to not buy that f***ing watch 😂

Good attitude. I struggle with those same feelings. Need to appreciate what I have and not chase the next shiny thing. Wish you well on your journey.

Nothing wrong with that. Being a watch enthusiast is a "forever" thing, so enjoy your timepieces and take this time to create a wish list. The longer you hold off, the more informed your decisions would be.

Yup, besides I don't think the brands I love will stop making beautiful watches.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I’m sure many of us feel the same way at some stage in their life. Appreciate what you have is always a good start!

I have always felt my watch affectation was a selfish indulgence, when I was single, carefree wasn’t a big deal but after marriage and children there were different imperatives in my life. I took a 15 year rest from buying any expensive new watches, sold off most of my older luxury pieces to fund the usual necessities but children grow up quickly, life returns to old passions and habits. Watches for me have always been a nice simple distraction from everyday concerns.

Dang, this is deep.

Ah, you're getting to the realisation that you don't need to own everything to enjoy the hobby! Congratulations, that's a good point to be at!

See it as a positive thing rather than letting financial hardship get you down.... you can massively improve knowledge in this time & future potential purchases will be far better informed.

It's about appreciation and not the short term dopamine hit of the purchase.

Good on you 👍🏻👍🏻

Sorry didn’t mean for it to be deeply profound, haha. Watches are just fun. 🙏
