New (to me) watch day

I picked this up off eBay and can find very little information about it.

Here's what I do know:

Brand: Animal

Model: something about Rider Induced Power, RIP.

Looks like a quartz movement but the battery is charged by the spinny thing.

Image

It's heavy, solid steel bracelet links (24mm wide) and possibly a titanium case but I think it's steel.

Image

200m water resistance and screw down crown.

It's bigger and heavier than my Duro with a steel bracelet and I like it 😀

Welcome to select club of Animal owners of WatchChrunch. We are not many, but we are united!

Actually, not untited at all... I can't even tell you who the others are. I've only seen one or two other than mine and now yours would make it 3 or 4 tops floating around.

Nice pick! I've never seen a kinetic Animal before. I knew of them but had never seen one in the wild.

One of my old favourites is an Animal watch my wife bought for me before she was my wife and we're coming up to our 20th anniversary later this year. I knew they had a few different models but I'd never seen nor heard of the kinetic ones until I spotted this on eBay.

I've got my eye on some Elliot Brown watches now that's what they've become.

I didn't know the name changed to Elliot Brown! I though they had folded. Information on Animal watches is few and far between.

Mine belonged to my dad. He gifted it to me many years ago. It had been out of commission for some time. The crystal fell out and it was replaced poorly with dust on the dial. I recently had the crystal replaced without dust inside. But the bezel insert was put in wrong and it doesn't line up. It's over 20yrs old... I will not have it re-aligned. I don't want it to break.

Ian Elliot co-founded Animal and Alex Brown headed up their watches department. After Animal run it's course then got together and started Elliot Brown.

Sounds like your watch has had a tough life.

That's good to know! I've seen a few Elliot Browns floating around. I'll have to check them out a little bit closer.

Surprisingly enough, it hasn't. Just one day I was putting it on and off came the crystal... I just so happened to be walking by my bed and on it fell the glass. It's still all original. Just a misaligned bezel insert. For 20+ yrs, it's in decent shape!!

This is pre crystal replacement. You can see the model number on the left and the specs of dust inside.

This is post crystal replacement. With the misaligned bezel insert and model number right of the 12 o'clock if I want the 60 marker lining up.
