I wanted to possibly paint parts of the inner screen. Where the numbers are and maybe the words to match the strap I want to use.

I've seen the tinted film tricks as shown by @skyblue as well as polarizing film to create a negative display. Digitals can also be oil filled if one is up for that.

Sorry, I haven't done anything like that. SKX Mods has different faceplates, it might be worth looking at.
