Rolex Air-King Alternatives

Hi all!

I really dig this watch recently despite all the valuable and very important internet opinions :) and I know one day I'll probably get them, but before that, what are some more affordable and neat alternatives out there besides straightforward homages?

Hi!

Are you looking for a copy/hommage or for something a bit more different?

For the first option, you can check the Pagani PD1692

Thanks for the Pagani link 🙂 I believe it would be rather foolish to buy the exact replica. And that would be a bit hard to explain but I'll try — I love the way the watch face is designed in Air-King and I'm looking for something that would provide with more or less the same impression.

I second @t.zffl's recommendation. Get the homage. The PD will help you figure out if you like how the watch actually wears on your wrist (assuming the PD has the same dimensions as the AirKing).

I buy Chinese knockoffs all the time, in order to do long-term test drives of actual watches I'm thinking of getting. 5 minutes of looking at a watch wrapped in plastic, sitting on my wrist with an unsized bracelet, at an AD just ain't enough time for me to decide whether or not to drop $5k+ on a watch!

Flieger style watches Type B have similar enough designs here. If you like the link above, Laco do cheaper watches in the same style. Other brands such as Seiko (snk007) are even cheaper. Fore more expensive options, there are watches in this style from IWC, and vintage models from Glashutte Original to name a few - but this is a deep topic.

Enjoy!

You really got me thinking, I see a very reasonable point here. In regards to watches I always see it as a long-term purchase and never even imagined I could go with a test-drive just like that 😂 So yeah, changing my mind and I'll try PD this time. Thanks a lot! 🤝

So, following up — thanks to @t.zffl and @HotWatchChick69 I've ordered PD1692 as well as San Martin's recreation of BR05, as I'm planning to get my hands on Bell&Ross as well. Now I'm just waiting for now. Thank you all!
