Always a nearly perfect piece

Not sure if anyone here agree with me but even though knowing GS for quite a long time, it’s just recent that I picked one for myself after very much consideration. Yes the movement is awesome (both the Hi-Beat and the infamous Springdrive), dial is mesmerizing, hands are sharp and shines like katana, etc. But the case, the bracelet, the WR (of many models but not all) is inadequate comparing to how good the whole watch suppose to be. It raised a question: GS, why? Why being famous for pursuing perfection, but then running away from it?

I'm lucky in there bracelet size fine too my wrist but I can see the complaints about it if it doesn't fit then its a big problem, don't know what you mean by case never heard any complaints about there cases my only issue is there size or they would be like pokemon to me otherwise 🙄🤣wish they digged more into the traditional 44gs case shape historical editions very pricey, not owned or handled your model so obviously can't comment on appearance looks to big for my liking 38mm and it would be on my list 👌

It’s actually 39mm. The case is too simplistically practical comparing to those Swiss IMHO. Most of them has dial of an elegant dress watch, but somehow the case and the bracelet just lean towards to the sporty side, though not all has over 100m pf WR

Ahh so your kind of saying the watch has an identity crisis it doesn't really know what it wants to be,embrace it my friend other than the obvious reasons that's why we buy GS to be different 👌

That's why I'm waiting for my first GS purchase until the bracelet is also perfect;)

That might take sometimes. I waited for 6 years until the Speedmaster 3861 to come with the new tapered bracelet, but still missed the micro-adjust clasp they added around 1.5 years after my purchase

That's true but I have time. Until then I can purchase some other watches from wishlist as the omega speedmaster apollo XI vintage, omega speedmaster 3861 with hesalit, omega seamaster 2531.80, rolex pepsi (vintage or new) and tudor submariner 79090. So as you see plenty to buy🤣

But the waiting was worth it, right? Haha

I have the Shosho. That dial grabbed me from the moment I saw it at a prelaunch event. Yeah, everyone complains about Grand Seiko bracelets, but to me it's fine, at very least adequate; it's comfortable and does the job. Sure, everyone says Rolex or whatever is better, but I don't have one, so I don't have any comparison, or complaints. I don't know what you think is wrong with the case. It's not one of Grand Seiko's more notable designs, eg the GS44, but it's attractive, and standard for the Elegance Collection. It has one benefit, it hides its thickness well; when I tried it on, I was surprised to learn it was 14mm+ thick. A GS44 of the same thickness wears much chunkier.

And ah, the water resistance. People are so hung up on water resistance. Unless you want to go swimming with it, it's just fine for anything it's going to encounter day to day. I often wash it under the tap when I wash my hands, makes it sparkle. What can I say, I live on the wild side.

As an aside, once when I tried on a similar watch at a Grand Seiko event, I mentioned the water resistance to the guy from GS corporate. He said, the water resistance is likely much better than the stated spec. I was surprised that he said that out loud in public, and it's not really an adequate response since if you take it in the water and it floods, you can't complain, but there you go.

And re the bracelet, my standard PSA for people who complain about the fit: the half links are really more like 2/3 links, so by mixing and matching half and full links, you can adjust by 1/3 link increments, or about 3mm. That's why the give you two of them. That's as good as adjustment holes on the clasp, if less convenient.

You must be into GS much more than I am. I can agree with you that though the bracelet looks dull, it feels good on wrist. I’m hoping to see your post of the Shosho on news feed later
