My first watch was HMT Janata, manual-wind watch, I believe, using Citizen movement. I lost the watch. I then got to use my dad's gold Rado for a while. I really liked the red rotating anchor logo.
My initial purchases were mainly thin quartz watches with clean dials, a movado, a seiko, and a raymond weil. As I started reading about watches I stumbled upon a fascinating book, Longitude by Dava Sobel. My current interest is generally around field watches.
